Upon its departure from Cairo airport immediately after arriving in Egypt, the motorcade carrying the official Algeria national soccer team and staff , as well as the Algerian Ambassador to Egypt and Algerian Ministers, was driven to a location were Egyptian nationals were awaiting, armed with rocks and waving Egyptian flags. The Egyptian driver of the bus carrying the official Algeria national soccer team subsequently stopped the bus in front of the armed thugs awaiting on the road side, and left the vehicle. The Egyptian police escort vanished. The players of the official Algeria team were then physically assaulted by hordes of Egyptian nationals, resulting in physical injuries of three key football players and one senior technical staff member. This attack and the injuries inflicted to the Algeria national soccer team were witnessed by FIFA staff members present in Egypt and reported in writing to the FIFA executive committee. It is also worth noting that only 2,000 Algeria supporters were allowed to travel to Egypt and attend the match at the Cairo stadium (where 80,000 Egyptian fans were in attendance). Upon their arrival at Cairo stadium ALL 2,000 supporters of the Algeria team were strip searched. Even Muslim Algerian women were ordered to bare naked and were strip searched by Egyptian male security officers. The Algerian flags supporters wanted to wave in support of their team were confiscated by Egyptian authorities. After the match, ALL 2,000 Algerian soccer fans were detained for several hours in the Cairo Stadium premises until circa 2 am local time. Men and women of all ages including children and elderly people were then ordered into buses and driven to areas of town that were far from their respective hotels or any other place of interest. They were awaited by armed Egyptian nationals who exerted acts of violence against these unarmed Algeria supporters in the middle of the night. Police was escorting Algerian supporters to the location where the assaults occurred and did not act to prevent or stop this violence. These post-match actions resulted in dozens of Algerian nationals being physically hurt and transported to hospitals to be treated. Evidence of these events are thus readily available from hospital records. Terrorized by this coordinated and premeditated campaign of violence, the Algeria soccer team performed under great duress. The Egyptian team won 2-0. As peaceful supporters of the Algeria team we are happy with this score: Indeed, had the Algerian team won this match, it is feared the Algeria players and supporters would have been mass murdered in Cairo. The violence that occurred before and after the November 14 match in Cairo is documented in countless videos news reports that were broadcasted on TV channels worldwide. In contrast, Egyptian players and supporters were received with flowers when they came to Blida, Algeria, the City of Roses, for the initial match on June 7th 2009. The events surrounding of November 14th could not be ignored by FIFA, however FIFA chose to not take decisive action to sanction this violence.
